About Us

Greenwood Neighbourhood Place was formed in 2000 by a group of people who had a vision to create an organization that would provide services and programming to our community. We are a non-profit society, governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. All decisions are made by the Board of Directors at monthly meetings using a financial, ethical, and fundamental framework. The Executive Director is in charge of implementing and assuring day to day activities are within the parameters set out by the board. Our organization receives funding and mandates through grant writing, fundraising, partnership agreements and service contracts. Over the years the Society has grown and overcome many obstacles. In 2013, GNP obtained registered charity status with the CRA - allowing us to expand the scope of our service delivery.
  • Our Vision: Greenwood Neighbourhood Place supports a nurturing, thriving, empowered and connected healthy community.
  • Our Mission: To provide the safe and caring resource center for all people in Sundre and surrounding communities by listening, supporting, connecting, communicating, and offering encouragement in a professional non-judgmental environment.
Consider making a charitable donation to support Greenwood Neighbourhood Place in their efforts to make Sundre a nurturing, thriving, empowered and connected, healthy community in Alberta, Canada.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  • Why do people come to your office? The majority of people come to our office to register for courses, access the job board and computer stations, apply for E.I., participate with the Volunteer Income Tax program, see our Senior Specialist for appointments, and faxing and photocopying. We also offer meeting spaces to other agencies such as Alberta Health Services, Peaks to Prairies Primary Care Network, and to Members of Parliament.
  • Are you a Government Agency? Our office is not a government agency. All our directions and decisions are related to the mandates we receive through funding, grants and donations.
  • Can you help fill out forms? There is a need to help with filling out forms; such as subsidy applications, official documents and more. For most federal and provincial forms, we are able to book appointments with our senior's specialist. However, we are unable to provide immediate assistance on a regular basis. Staff time is over-allocated and responsibilities are numerous. We are a very busy office.
  • How are you funded? Each program has its own budget and funding sources. We receive municipal and provincial funding for the majority of programming such as FCSS and Healthy Families. Initiatives are project funded and receive charitable donations or are administered within a government funded contract.
  • Why do you ask for donations? Some of the project and program funding has ended, however we are still providing the service. This is the case for all employment services we provide and the two computer stations.  Additional donations are used for direct program expenses and new program development. Examples of where donations are allocated are the Summer Children & Youth Programming, Santa's Anonymous, Continuing Education, and Volunteer Development. All donations align with our charitable objectives.
  • Are you accountable to anyone? Every project, initiative, and dollar spent is accounted for and evaluated for its successful community impact. All funders require us to submit financial reports and outcome measures.
